Racehorse Trainer (January 2009)
As Queensland’s leading Racehorse Trainer, Bruce McLachlan trained more than 3000 winners in a career covering 40 years. The former Mt Isa Policeman holds the record for 16 Metropolitan Training Premierships from the late 1970's until 2009.
Bruce built the Coast’s most influential stables at Caloundra, opposite Corbould Park. From there he reached the pinnacle of his career, becoming only the second trainer to produce the winner of the Magic Millions and the Golden Slipper double, the world’s richest races for two year olds. Aged 67 years old, Bruce passed away suddenly on 3 June 2009. He’ll be remembered as racing’s biggest character, who deserves his place among the greatest in the sport of kings.
