Vice-Chancellor medals for excellence in learning and teaching

Each winner received $5000 to advance their work at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

The recipients were:

  • Dr Greg Nash, School of Communication – Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. Dr Nash is a USC graduate who rose through the ranks to program leader and made USC’s largest course, Communication and Thought, a success story. He was nominated for his innovative teaching practices focused on student engagement and retention.
  • Rosanna Natoli, School of Communication – Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching for Sessional Staff. Ms Natoli is a long-time member of USC’s sessional teaching staff who has contributed her extensive television industry experience and exemplary academic practices to teach and mentor students of Journalism and Media Communication.

  • Dr Mark Holmes — Vice-Chancellor and President’s Awards for Excellence in Learning and Teaching
    Dr Mark Holmes is a Senior Lecturer in Nutritional Biochemistry and Discipline Leader for Biomedical Sciences. Dr Holmes was nominated for his innovative teaching and ground-breaking course development including liaising with industry for USC’s new Medical Laboratory Science degree.

  • Ms Kendall George — Vice-Chancellor and President’s Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, Sessional Staff (Faculty of Science, Health, Education and Engineering)
    Kendall George is a Lecturer in Bachelor of Nursing Science and Master of Midwifery. Ms George was nominated for her work with the midwifery team in simulation and case-based learning, which was commended by the national accreditation panel, and other contributions in teaching innovation.

  • Ms Ginna Brock — Vice-Chancellor and President’s Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, Sessional Staff (Faculty of Arts and Business)
    Ms Ginna Brock is a Lecturer in Faculty of Arts and Business first-year courses. Ms Brock was nominated for her consistently high teaching standards and creation of positive learning environments, resulting in outstanding feedback from students.
