Graduands participating in a graduation ceremony are required to wear UniSC academic dress. This includes a gown, hood or stole, and trencher.
Academic dress hire
Academic dress is hired for you when you submit your online registration and payment to attend the ceremony. Please ensure you respond by the due date. Payment of your graduation fee includes hire charges for academic dress.
Collecting academic dress
When you arrive at the venue, please proceed to the registration area where you will be given assistance to collect your academic dress prior to the ceremony.
Once you collect your academic dress, you will be:

responsible for the care of the academic dress,

required to returned your academic dress or you will be charged for the replacement cost.
Your trencher is yours to take home as a momento of the day.
Wearing academic dress
You will be fitted and given advice on how to wear your academic dress when you collect it prior to the ceremony.
Each academic dress item is worn in a specific way. Refer to the pictures below.
- The hood is worn over your gown and lies across the shoulders.
- The stole (Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma) is worn around the neck with the tails of the stole falling over the front of the gown.
- The square top of the trencher is worn horizontally, with the shorter peak of the trencher to the front and the tassel draped over the right side of the trencher.
Returning academic dress
Academic dress must be returned to the designated area by the allotted time after the ceremony. Please note that you are required to scan your registration code to confirm you have returned your academic dress or you will be charged for the replacement cost.
