USC seeks outstanding graduates for annual awards

USC graduates achieving great things in their chosen field or community are being sought for the spotlight at the 2020 Outstanding Alumni Awards.

USC Alumni Relations Manager Anita Edmonds invited nominations from across the world before the deadline of 26 August, with this year’s three winners to be announced in October.

“USC opened to students in 1996 and now has more than 24,000 graduates, so if you know one of them and think they’re doing outstanding work, please let us know,” she said.

“We want to hear from family, friends and colleagues of people who have really excelled since completing their USC degree. These graduates deserve accolades.”

The award categories and criteria require that a nominee must have first graduated in 2018 or earlier.

The categories are: Outstanding Alumnus of the Year; Regional Achievement (for graduates shining in the broader Sunshine Coast region or another regional community); and Rising Star (for graduates aged 35 years or younger).

Last year’s winners were Dr Sonia Marshall (PhD), who advocated for the welfare of people with cystic fibrosis and for the sustainability of the Sunshine Coast; Andrew Fairbairn (Marketing), who led industry and membership development at Visit Sunshine Coast; and Royal Australian Navy Lieutenant Commander Thomas Miller (Nursing), senior clinician and Head of Nurse Education for the Royal Australian Navy.

Nomination forms and full criteria are available online or by contacting Anita Edmonds at alumni@usc.edu.au or 07 5459 4564.
