Coast’s biggest superhero snap … plus some bam and kapow

Thousands of superheroes of all shapes and sizes will join forces at the University of the Sunshine Coast on Sunday 7 August for USC’s annual Imaginarium and Open Day.

Visitors to the free community fun event from 10am to 2pm have been encouraged to dress up as superheroes – a theme chosen to reflect the transformative POWer of tertiary education provided by USC since it opened 20 years ago.

A highlight of the day will be the “Coast’s biggest superhero SNAP” to be taken by a quadcopter drone at 12.30pm.

The entertainment line-up has gained some added OOMPH this year, with three triple j ‘Unearthed’ acts performing.

Guitarist Robbie Miller, indie pop duo Zefereli, and eight-piece roots and funk outfit Fat Picnic will certainly provide some CRASH, BOOM, BANG.

Visitors won’t have to go far for some CRUNCH-ing and SKREEECH-ing, with the popular ‘Lab of Awesome’ returning to show off the latest gaming technology.

Or they can get a ZAP out of building electric circuits, SLAM dunk in the wheelchair basketball challenge or experience the SPLAT of green goo in one of the many fun activities on offer.

USC’s Imaginarium and Open Day is designed to inspire the imaginations of Sunshine Coast residents and provide prospective students with all the information they need to enrol to study.
