When Thomas Krosch of Joyner crossed the USC Graduation Ceremony stage to receive his combined degree in Education and Science on Friday 17 April, he already knew where his path led.

Mr Krosch, 24, is working as a health and physical education teacher at Spinifex State College, the largest secondary school in north-west Queensland.

“I have a permanent teaching position with Education Queensland in Mt Isa and I’d also like to complete a Master of Education externally part-time,” he said.

The graduate of Genesis Christian College at Bray Park said he chose the Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Science at USC for several reasons.

“I loved the Sunshine Coast and the lifestyle was much better than travelling into the city. I could go for a swim at the beach between classes,” he said.

“USC also had great ratings for teaching staff, who were so approachable and never too busy to help.

“I’m passionate about sports science and the courses I completed here at USC were exactly the areas I was interested in.

“I found that many of the lecturers and tutors had knowledge and experience in the field. They still taught at varying levels in schools so they could prepare me for teaching in current classrooms.”
