UniSC is widening participation in higher education through far reaching strategic initiatives which raise awareness of, access to, and capacity for further study.
UniSC supports the Federal Government ambition to improve the participation of people from priority groups that have been under-represented in higher education. This is articulated in the UniSC 2021-2024 Strategic Plan's priorities to enable access to the UniSC experience, increase the number of students from priority backgrounds, and deliver enriching experiences through innovative partnerships.
UniSC’s widening participation goals are long-term and aim to foster social inclusion by developing and supporting initiatives that realise potential, improve pathways for future students, and support current students throughout their degrees. This is achieved through collaboration with schools, TAFE, other universities, and community organisations to provide support across the entire lifecycle:
- Pre-Access (Outreach to schools and communities)
- Access (Pathways and admissions, including enabling pathways)
- Participation (Transition, engagement and progression)
- Attainment and transition out
UniSC’s widening participation programs are supported through both University and Commonwealth (Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program) funding. Many of the University’s current school partnerships and initiatives are available at Outreach programs for schools.
