Hi! My name is Eva, and I am studying a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business. I recently returned home from a semester abroad at RheinAhrCampus in Germany. My goal for studying abroad was to grow in my intercultural knowledge by studying in a foreign country and travel through Europe. Over the past few months since travelling to Germany, I have grown so much as a person. This experience has really allowed me to come out of my shell, step outside my comfort zone, and have countless amazing experiences with the most wonderful people along the way. I feel incredibly lucky to have met so many incredible people from all around the world, people I never would have encountered without this experience and who I will miss so much until we meet again. Most of all, I have been able to fulfil my dreams whilst studying abroad.
When I first arrived in the German town of Remagen, I instantly fell in love with its serene atmosphere. With its traditional architecture, river, and local flora and fauna, this part of Germany feels like living in a fairy-tale! I feel fortunate to have called Remagen home, even if only for a short while, and I will always think of it as my second home.
Even before I started university, I dreamed of studying abroad. The partnership between UniSC and RheinAhrCampus made this dream a reality, and I’m very grateful to have been given this incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Through my studies abroad, I was also able to tick many dream destinations off my bucket list.
Another goal I achieved was learning a new language! During my time in Germany, I had the opportunity to take an intensive German language course and earned an A1 level certificate, which was very helpful while living in a small town and something I will continue to progress in.
Germany was the perfect location for my studies, with its international business courses and central location in Europe. I had the most unforgettable time travelling with fellow international students and German friends, visiting places such as the Netherlands, Luxembourg (on a girls' trip!), Belgium with my South Korean roommate, my dream destination Vienna, Sweden to stay with new German friends, hiking in the Swiss Alps, lunching in Italy, and staying with a new international friend in their home city in Portugal. The adventures were endless! Not to mention the unforgettable experiences within Germany itself, particularly in Remagen.
I have such fond memories of Sunday afternoon walks along the Rhine, nights out at the student bar, after-class volleyball sessions, and waiting with friends at the Remagen train station to embark on our next adventure together!
I will miss Remagen dearly, but I know I will return in the future!
