Student Handbook, Semester 2, 2010: Journalism

Major

For a major in Journalism, students must successfully complete 8 courses:

CMN130 Visual Literacy: Design Principles and Practice
CMN213 Introduction to Design
CMN214 Graphic Design A
CMN227 Graphic Design B
CMN228 Graphic Design C
CMN235 Graphic Design D
CMN237 Graphic Design E - Internship/Professional Project
CMN272 Graphic Design F - Professional Portfolio

Students are required to apply to be accepted to undertake a journalism major. The prerequisite for a journalism major is CMN102 (or CMN100 ) plus INT140 . In addition, students will be required to attend a selection interview. Acceptance into a Journalism major may not be confirmed to students until the end of their second year of full-time study or equivalent. Students not accepted to undertake a Journalism major, may be eligible for a Communication Studies major.
