Professor Sajid Anwar holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia and a master’s degree from McMaster University, both in Canada. Over the course of his career, Professor Anwar has held full-time academic positions at several institutions, including Northern Territory University (now Charles Darwin University), University of Canberra, Charles Sturt University, James Cook University, University of Adelaide, and University of South Australia. In addition, he has undertaken short-term appointments at the University of Waterloo (Canada) and the University of Macau before joining the University of the Sunshine Coast in January 2009.
Professor Anwar is a core member of the UniSC Indigenous and Transcultural Research Centre (ITRC). His current research focuses on the impact of foreign investment, global value chains (GVC), and their related spillover effects on firm and sectoral performance. He has authored over 170 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and serves as a reviewer for numerous academic publications. Furthermore, he has successfully supervised more than a dozen doctoral candidates to completion.
Professor Anwar’s contributions to teaching have been recognised through multiple awards, including the Postgraduate Lecturer of the Year Award in 2006 at the University of Adelaide. Please feel free to contact him if you have any questions regarding his teaching and research interests.
