Profile

DOB: 25th January 1991

Favourite event: 100m breaststroke

A triple Paralympian with two gold and silver medals to his name, Blake is a decorated athlete and a natural leader within the Dolphins team. An unexpected call up to the 2008 Beijing Paralympic team saw the Queenslander claim his first silver medal in the 100m breaststroke (SB7). Continuing to build on his momentum, three years later he claimed a whopping five gold medals at the Para Pan Pacs in Canada, not before securing a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India. Blake's two gold medals at the London Paralympic Games in 2012 rank high among his stellar achievements, but it was his move to the Sunshine Coast that he describes as one of his biggest highlights. Competing in Rio in 2016, Blake came home with a silver medal and most recently, he scooped up a silver medal in the 200m IM (SM8) and a bronze in the 100m breaststroke (SB8) in front of a home crowd at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. As one of the most experienced swimmers on the USC Spartans team, he wants to compete in his 4th Paralympic Games in Tokyo in the 100m breaststroke SB7 classification. Blake is currently in his final year of a degree in Clinical Exercise Science. With his degree, Blake will be qualified as an Exercise Physiologist through Exercise Sports Science Australia. Blake is a two-time winner of USC's Sportsperson of the Year award.
