A celebration of Indigenous and transcultural arts-based research

Kaleidoscope Symposium

Date to be confirmed

UniSC Sunshine Coast Campus - Kabi Kabi Country and online

The Indigenous and Transcultural Research Centre presents: Kaleidoscope - an interdisciplinary symposium dedicated to exploring the intersections of art, culture, and knowledge through the lens of Indigenous and transcultural perspectives. This event brings together Indigenous and transcultural artist-researchers to showcase how art can serve as a vital tool for research, justice, and social transformation.

Drawing inspiration from the metaphor of the kaleidoscope, the symposium emphasises the dynamic, shifting nature of cultural expression and the multiplicity of voices that shape contemporary art and scholarship. Kaleidoscope invites participants to engage in collaborative dialogues that challenge traditional academic boundaries and celebrate the richness of diverse cultural experiences.

Kaleidoscope invites participants to engage in collaborative dialogues that challenge traditional academic boundaries and celebrate the richness of diverse cultural experiences. The symposium seeks to create an inclusive space for sharing knowledge, storytelling, and transformative artistic practices that reflect the complex and evolving relationships between Indigenous peoples, transcultural communities, and global societies. The symposium will explore a range of methodologies, epistemologies, and ontological approaches to Indigenous and transcultural arts-based research.
