Phillip Strachan

B.Com (Melb), FCPA, MAICD

Phillip is a Director of Urban Utilities where he is the Chairperson of the Experience and Safety Committee and is a member of the Strategic Asset Management Committee. He is a Director of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation and Chairs its Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee. He is the Chairperson of Coal Network Capacity Company Limited. He is a former Chair of Queensland Rail and a former Director of Tilt Renewables Limited. He was also the President of the Australian Aluminium Council.

He has extensive experience in operations and finance at the executive level. He’s held a number of executive roles over his 35 year career with the Rio Tinto Group, including the Chief Executive Officer of the global Bauxite and Alumina businesses based in Brisbane and Chief Financial Officer at the Rio Tinto global aluminium product group based in Montreal.

Phillip has extensive operational, financial and international experience in: a global multinational mining organisation having worked overseas in Indonesia, United Kingdom and Canada for a total of 18 years, public sector transportation, renewable energy, and non-for-profit sectors.

He has NZX, ASX, unlisted public company, government, not for profit and advisory experience.

At UniSC Phillip is a member of Council, the Audit and Risk Management Committee, the Planning and Resources Committee, and Chairs the Major Projects Advisory Group.
