Nomination guidelines

The Outstanding Alumni Awards recognise and celebrate the many achievements of USC graduates, both professionally and personally for outstanding contributions to their profession, community and the advancement of society.

Nominations for the 2020 Outstanding Alumni Awards closed in August 2020.

Nominations are generally open between June and August each year.

Below are the 2020 Nomination Guidelines, intended as a guide only and may be updated in future.

  • To be eligible nominees must have first graduated from USC at least two years ago (ie first Graduation ceremony 2018 or earlier for 2020 nominations)*.
  • Achievements attained before graduating from USC will be taken into consideration, but there must be achievements demonstrated in the years after graduation.
  • Graduates do not have to be working in the particular discipline from which they graduated.
  • Former nominations that were unsuccessful may be resubmitted by completing a current nomination form with any updated information since the previous nomination.
  • Nominations can be made by any member of the community including: USC alumni, staff, students, family, friends and business associates.
  • Nominators must have permission from the nominee to be nominated.
  • Self–nominations are accepted if a letter of recommendation from a key industry representative (e.g. employer) is included verifying achievements.

 Award categories

  • Outstanding Alumnus of the Year
  • Alumnus of the Year, Regional Achievement
  • Alumnus of the Year, Rising Star

Nominators do not need to nominate for a specific award category, as the judging panel will determine which categories the nominees are most suited for.

At the discretion of the judging panel, up to two Rising Star recipients may be awarded in a given year.

Not all categories must be awarded in any given year and will depend on the calibre of nominations.
