Advanced Characterisation

Providing the clues that drive innovation in manufacturing, biodiscovery and environmental sciences.

Characterisation of chemicals and materials is a crucial first step in harnessing the opportunities that exist in nature.

Characterisation of natural and man-made materials is the foundation of discovery, knowledge, and innovation. It is crucial at every stage of research translation and impact, providing insight into the chemical, physical and structural properties of small bioactive molecules to the advanced materials that support a range of industries.

We harness the power of advanced techniques across three major facilities aligned with our expertise: separation and structure elucidation (AIF at UniSC), neutron scattering and absorption (ANSTO Sydney), and synchrotron radiation methods (ANSTO Melbourne) to drive research critical in meeting our future societal needs.

Cluster leads: Dr Ryo Sekine and Dr Rezwanul Haque

Our aim

To accelerate the expansion and impact of our advanced characterisation capabilities to meet the future needs of industry across the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay and Fraser Coast regions.
