Honorary Doctorate (September 2016)
Wong Siew Te was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in September 2016 in recognition of his extraordinary achievements in the connected fields of wildlife conservation and environmental education.
Dr Wong founded the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, a zoological centre for the protection and conservation of the Malayan Sun Bear with the organisation Land Empowerment Animals People, the Sabah Wildlife Department and the Sabah Forestry Department.
The partnership between the University and his Centre provides valuable opportunities for staff and students for off-shore learning, work integrated learning and academic staff collaborations, and has opened doors for USC to develop other relationships in Sabah, aided by his experience, efforts and connections as one of Malaysia's leading conservationists.
