Honorary Senior Fellow (May 2007)
Terri Irwin AM was named an Honorary Senior Fellow in May 2007 in recognition of her individual contributions to the Sunshine Coast region and wildlife conservation.
Terri Irwin AM is a woman who needs no introduction. Her tireless work, in partnership with her late husband Steve Irwin, has led to the creation of one of Australia’s most famous tourism attractions, Australia Zoo, and has placed Queensland and the Sunshine Coast on the international tourism stage. Her commitment to the protection of wildlife and wildlife habitat, and to the education and promotion of conservation issues to people around the world, is unwavering. In 2006, Terri Irwin was made a Member of the Order of Australia for services to wildlife conservation and the tourism industry. Steve Irwin was presented with an Honorary Senior Fellowship by the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2000, at a time when too little regional recognition had been extended to Steve and Terri’s work.
