Honorary Doctorate (September 2020)
Dame Noeline Taurua was named an Honorary Doctorate in September 2020 in recognition of her exemplary leadership, community commitment, coaching innovation and excellence, particularly in high performance sport.
Noeline Taurua’s key achievements are on the sporting stage, leading the Sunshine Coast Lightning to major premiership victory two years in a row, and a minor premiership in their third year of operation. Her deep understanding of the game and how to draw the best out of players and rally community support behind the team have set her apart as not only a coach but as a leader in the community. Noeline is an Ambassador for the development of young women and the partnership between sport and education. She is an exemplary role model for high-profile coaching on and off the court and has immense respect in the sporting, media and community spheres.
