Honorary Doctorate (October 2012)
Dr Willi Toisuta was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in October 2012 in recognition of his tireless work in education, which has focused on building research and human resources throughout the developing world.
Dr Willi Toisuta has supported USC in its regional engagement mission since its inauguration and was appointed as an Adjunct Professor at USC in 2009. Since the commencement of his career in Indonesia Dr Toisuta has engaged with Australian universities, forging alliances that have benefited both nations. He has been responsible for major changes and developments in higher education and is well-respected across the world. Dr Toisuta has worked tirelessly in the education sector, focusing on building research and human resources throughout the developing world. Dr Toisuta is renowned internationally, for the major contributions he has made to the development of Indonesian communities, and has established knowledge exchange networks, bringing together educators, provincial governments and business, which has led to enhanced linkages between Australia and Indonesia. As a consequence of Dr Toisuta’s reputation and his extended engagements with USC, the University receives major funding from donor agencies and government authorities. Dr Toisuta has inspired many and helped tens of thousands in his quiet, honest and modest way.
