The MAIC/UniSC Road Safety Research Collaboration (RSRC) was established in 2018 as a strategic partnership between the Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) and the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) to undertake high level, applied research that positively impacts the lives and safety of Queensland's road users and community. Comprising of a team of over 20 research academics, HDR scholars and casual research officers, we are fast becoming the leading road safety research centre in Queensland producing world-class research outputs, with a focus on impaired driving.

The MAIC/UniSC RSRC Scholarship aims to encourage and support students to undertake Honours programs and experience research activities within the RSRC research team.

Road deaths and serious injuries have devastating social consequences, resulting in an estimated A$27 billion annual cost to the Australian economy. Our applied research aims to reduce the personal, social, and economic burdens associated with road crashes in Queensland.

Scholarship payments will be made approximately three weeks after Census Date once enrolment has been confirmed.

Please Note:  This scholarship is offered on a yearly basis through funds provided by an external donor. If funding is not available in any given year, the scholarship will not be awarded.

Eligibility

• enrolled in either a full-time Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Bachelor of Criminology and Justice (Honours) or a 1 year ‘End-on’ Honours program at UniSC
  • students enrolled in a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), or Bachelor of Criminology and Justice (Honours) must be commencing in their 4th year (Honours component) of study
  • students enrolled in a 1 year ‘End-on’ Honours program must be commencing in their program
• not already in receipt of a UniSC merit scholarship or a UniSC Honours or Postgraduate scholarship for their Honours year of study
• Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Permanent Australian Humanitarian Visa holder, or Permanent Resident of Australia

A$5,000 per annum for up to one year of full-time study (comprising 96 units). Part-time students will receive pro rata payment, equivalent to the units of study.
