
Professor Dinan-Thompson has an impressive background in education leadership, having held senior roles including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) and Dean, Learning, Teaching and Student Engagement, and Deputy Dean (Education) at James Cook University. With over 20 years of experience in all levels of education, Professor Dinan-Thompson brings extensive expertise in national curriculum and assessment development for schools and tertiary education, educational technologies, and student success strategies. Maree is a passionate educator with a proven record in advancing educational standards, fostering academic integrity, promoting industry collaboration, and shaping innovative learning and teaching approaches that capitalise on educational technologies for access, equity, and preparation for the future workforce (including artificial intelligence tools). Maree’s leadership in educator capability development at the national level supports UniSC’s investment in academics and professional and technical staff engaged in the learning and teaching partnership with students.
In the pivotal role, Professor Dinan-Thompson oversees UniSC’s learning and teaching initiatives, ensuring alignment with the university’s strategic goals, particularly in supporting student success, retention, and progression. Maree will continue to drive academic excellence and strengthen UniSC’s position as a leader in education for our communities, while ensuring the University’s teaching and assessment practices uphold the highest standards of quality and integrity.
