Dr Megan Schroder is a lecturer and researcher with the School of Education and Tertiary Access at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Megan’s deep commitment to using creativity to foster students as lifelong learners and possibility thinkers, developed over several decades in secondary schools, state and independent, rural and urban, in Australia and the United Kingdom. In tertiary education, across several universities, Megan has continued to use her educational experience to support initial teacher education students develop their practice, particularly in English and Drama curriculum, and Professional Experience units.

Her PhD entitled Creative Insights: Senior school teachers experience of creativity in Queensland across the curriculum, was conferred in 2022. The thesis investigated senior school teacher understandings of creativity across the eight learning areas. It asked teachers what they understood creativity to be in relation to their subject area syllabus and how they integrated creativity into their curriculum delivery while implementing the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) 2019 syllabus suite. Additionally, it considered whether a universal definition of creativity could be developed for application in senior school educational contexts. The research is qualitative and uses bounded case study methodology. Megan’s teaching and research continue to be underpinned by the importance of integrating creativity with curriculum, particularly in senior school contexts, to foster learners as individuals who thrive in life.
