Margaret Marshman

Dr Margaret Marshman is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics and Physics Education for the School of Education and Tertiary Access. She worked as a physicist in a hospital, laser physics and magnetic resonance imaging before becoming a secondary mathematics and science teacher and mathematics Head of Department on the Gold Coast. She is involved in teacher education in the undergraduate and Master of Teaching programs. Margaret coordinates the Mathematics Teachers Hub of the Sunshine Coast.

Dr Marshman is the Program Coordinator for the Graduate Certificate in Education and Graduate Certificate in Education Research.

Dr Marshman supervises a range of doctoral and masters students in Education. She is a mathematics and science educator who is passionate about mathematics teacher education. Her research includes peoples’ beliefs about mathematics, and the influence on learning and teaching, particularly of mathematics teacher educators, using problem solving and inquiry pedagogies, helping others to visualise and reason in three dimensions, and statistical thinking.
