Emma Lee Steindl

Dr Emma-Lee Steindl is a Lecturer in Education. She has research experience across STEM education, trauma-aware education, psychology, counselling, and the health sciences. 

Her qualitative research background is on the lived experiences of trauma, inclusive practices, and expressive therapies encompassing discussions on access and barriers in education, public health, and allied health professions. Her research utilises participatory action research, ethnography, narrative interviewing, and focus groups with professionals, clients, and students. Emma-Lee is particularly interested in student support, educational psychology, developmental psychology, transgenerational trauma, and culture. 

She has extensive experience as a STEM teacher in primary, secondary and tertiary education. Emma-Lee’s teaching career has entailed working in various contexts such as on campus, distance education, special education, and English language preparatory schools, and undergraduate and postgraduate courses at university. Additionally, Emma-Lee has partnered with academics, industry partners, and volunteers to implement effective programs of learning and teaching while supporting students' wellbeing and education, such as Room 17 Goes Large and STEM-antics.
