USC’s Thompson Institute offers a summer internship for secondary students interested in neuroscience, research, and mental health
The summer internship is designed to give students in years 9 to 12 an insight into the diverse and fascinating work of the Thompson Institute.
Students will experience:
- How latest technology like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is used to record images of the brain and its activity
- How research findings can improve mental health in young people
- How to keep your brain healthy for life
- Skills needed to communicate science and health messages.
Students will also gain an understanding of education and career pathways into emerging fields of work in neuroscience.
Another unique opportunity during the internship will be to peer-review a science article for publication in Frontiers for Young Minds (FYM) under the mentorship of one of our researchers.
Our next internship will be held the week starting 16 January 2023.
