Dr Justine Campbell joined USC in 2018 as Lecturer in Counselling. Prior to joining USC she was Program/Course coordinator and lecturer in Counselling and Psychology at the Australian Catholic University in Banyo. Her research areas included the impact of length of tenure and offender case load on prison staff; and predicting post-traumatic growth in trauma therapists.

Justine has previously worked as a psychologist in Queensland Corrective Services at Woodford Correctional Centre, which precipitated her interest and focus on improving the health and wellbeing of trauma and crisis counsellors, and emergency services employees exposed to secondary trauma and violence. This includes recognition of vicarious trauma symptoms in themselves and other colleagues; improving self-care techniques to help prevent or minimise the impact; strategies for recovery, and the opportunity for positive growth after experiencing vicarious trauma.

She also has four years experience in private practice which provides an advantage for teaching counselling skills to new students by using real life experience and examples.
