Associate Professor Jonathan Mason

Associate Professor Jonathan Mason completed a PhD in Applied Psychology of Intellectual Disability before undertaking a professional doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College, London. He has worked in a range of community and inpatient services for people with intellectual disabilities, severe and enduring mental problems, personality disorders and offenders. He was previously the Head of Psychology in a secure service for offenders with disabilities in the UK before moving to Queensland to take up the role of Director of Clinical Practice for the Department of Communities (North Coast Region) in 2009. Jonathan also acted as the inaugural Centre Director for the Queensland State-wide Forensic Disability Service between 2010 and 2012, a flagship government project to provide a secure therapeutic service to offenders with intellectual and cognitive disabilities. His research interests include offenders with intellectual disabilities, evidence-based approaches to managing challenging behaviour and developing psychological therapy services for people with disabilities.
