Anthony Walsh has worked in Health Promotion for over 25 years, mainly in the fields of sexual and reproductive health, and physical activity and health.

In a brief physiotherapy career, Anthony worked with children and adults with severe physical disabilities and in hospital settings. In health promotion, Anthony has worked as a health promotion officer, and manager of projects and services at Family Planning Queensland (now True Relationships and Reproductive Health).

He worked with diverse populations including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, correctional centre inmates and staff, Veterans, people with physical and intellectual disabilities, their carers and parents, and school children of all ages. In addition, he developed and delivered professional development for a wide range of health, disability and education professionals. He has also worked as a project officer and state coordinator for the Heart Foundation's walking group program.

Anthony is approaching completion of his PhD in Public Health; his research has focussed on evaluating strategies to encourage and support office workers to be more physically active through active commuting, with a particular focus on the role of self-regulation and social support in influencing behaviour change. This is his first year teaching at USC, but he has taught at both UQ and QUT in recent years, and is excited to be joining the team here.
