Project Description

Capturing male consumers’ memories and emotional connections to mechanical objects to inform the design of customised sustainable artefacts.

There is a pressing need within the fashion industry to address the need for sustainable design. New manufacturing, marketing and design solutions are needed to reduce waste, in part by extending the life of products. One strategy for addressing this problem is by fostering a positive emotional connection between the consumer and the product. This research employs creative practice research methods to examine whether textile designs can be created that evoke an embedded sense of meaning that is relevant to the wearer.
