Profile
Dr Ruth Greenaway is the Director of the Centre for Support and Advancement of Learning and Teaching (CSALT). The CSALT team supports the Schools to provide innovative curriculum that leads to student success. Support is provided in the areas of Curriculum Design, Professional Learning and the use of Educational Technologies guided by the University strategic priorities, policies and procedures. The current priorities include strategies that support students in their first year of study through curriculum design, blended learning and digital literacy, multi-site delivery and online learning, embedding Indigenous knowledges and perspectives in the curriculum and Employability. Reward and recognition of excellence in learning and teaching is supported through the Advance HE Higher Education Academy Fellowships of which Ruth is a Senior Fellow. She is currently studying a Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Knowledge.
Ruth is the elected general staff member on University Council, a member of the Planning and Resources Committee and a Director of the Sunshine Coast Lightning. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ruth is an active researcher who is currently involved in several grants investigating new initiatives in learning and teaching. Ruth’s research interests include innovations in curriculum design and assessment, the use of technology to enhance learning both on campus and in the online environment and improving access and participation in Higher Education. She also has a keen interest in the design of innovative, technology rich learning spaces and works alongside staff and students in the development and use of next generation learning spaces including the use of Visualisation and Simulation in learning and teaching. Ruth is the project manager of the Learning and Teaching Pillar for the development of the new USC Moreton Bay campus.
Ruth has worked in both secondary and tertiary education for the past 25 years in NSW and QLD and currently teaches in the School of Education. She won an APAI scholarship to complete her PhD research titled: School-Community engagement: a critical approach to involving young people in urban planning. Ruth's work has expanded to include university-school-community engagement initiatives and grants.
