Athletics (January 1993)

At just 15 years of age, the Sunshine Coast based athlete Glynis proved she would be a star of the future, winning six state titles, five in record time.

Glynis missed the 1980 Moscow Games, but returned to top-class competition and won gold at the 1982 Brisbane Commonwealth Games in the heptathlon. Her crowning moment was the Olympic gold medal in 1984 at Los Angeles. For two days, she battled the world's best heptathletes and emerged with the historic win.
