UniSC Track and Field Academy

UniSC aspires to create a Human Performance Precinct that will set an international benchmark for sports inclusion, talent identification and elite performance enhancement through Training, Treatment and Technology. Ultimately, the Precinct will deliver an enduring and valued legacy from the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The UniSC Sport Academy is at the heart of the Precinct. The Academy enables athletes, sporting teams, schools, corporate agencies, and sports medicine professionals from all levels, to access Human Performance opportunities through UniSC’s outstanding infrastructure that seamlessly integrates with people’s expertise and capability. The Sport Academy builds on UniSC’s established industry links, fostering cross-sector collaboration that ultimately enhances sports performance.

The UniSC Track and Field Academy will form part of the UniSC Sport Academy, supporting developing regional athletes competing at a national level to continue their trajectories in both their sport and education.

Academy Services

Physical Performance Coaching and guided Recovery
Delivered by Level 2 Pro Coach Level (ASCA) Performance Coaches qualified to train national, high-performance athletes.

Digital platform for strength and conditioning programming
TeamBuildr App for coach-athlete and self-management of the training program.

Sport Science testing
Endurance, strength, agility, power, and speed.

Opportunities to participate in research projects
Invitations to be included in scientific research related to improving track and field performance.

Career and Education advice
Advice on balancing sport and study, higher education opportunities, and career development alongside and after sport.

Session schedule

Strength and conditioning and recovery servicing for throwers, jumpers, sprinters, and distance runners. Group sessions are as follows:

Application Process

Track and Field athletes competing at a national level can apply to join the Academy group sessions as individuals, purchasing a session-based membership and showing evidence of competition at the national level.

Athletes on the cusp of national representation may be eligible with endorsement from their Athletics Club and accepted into the program at the discretion of the UniSC Sport Academy. Athletes must be a minimum of 14 years to be eligible for the program and will be under the direct supervision of appropriately qualified coaching staff.

Clubs can sponsor groups of athletes to join the Academy, purchasing multiple session-based memberships for athletes in their club, providing evidence of their competition at the national level. All participating athletes must sign a Code of Conduct that they will behave responsibly as a member of the UniSC Track and Field Academy.
