The Research Experience
USC's CAVE2 is a powerful visualisation tool that can immerse its audience in a limitless range of visual and audio content.
USC researchers using immersive visualisation for teaching have found increasing levels of student engagement and enhanced learning outcomes. According to Facilities Manager Mark Barry, "It's not just about the exciting technology, researchers are finding that students are able to grasp difficult content and topics and engage with the learning materials in ways that deepen the learning experience".
Explore some of the projects undertaking research in CAVE2 or organise a visit to see some of the visual artefacts firsthand and discover how you too could enhance the learning outcomes for your students using immersive visualisation.
Visualisation for Academics
CAVE2 is housed in the heart of the USC Sunshine Coast campus, with its own bespoke building featuring ample room for 'break-out' sessions and separate presentations areas.
An increasing number of academics are utilising these facilities to provide immersive visualisation experiences for students. Academics work closely with the Simulation and Visualisation team, including our in-house designers and developers, to produce innovative, customised visualisation artefacts for teaching tools.
Some projects partner across faculties to maximise use and applicability of visual artefacts.
