BUS106 Accounting for Business

Accounting information is the basis of decision making in all organisations. In this course you will be introduced to some fundamental financial and management accounting concepts and explore how these are used to inform business decisions. You will develop critical and creative thinking skills as you interpret and analyse (financial and non-financial) information and employ the tools and techniques commonly used by people working in all areas of business. This course also provides the opportunity to develop written communication skills and develop knowledge about the impact that accounting information has on the community. The topics in this course will support you to build skills in financial statement analysis, interpretation of budgets and performance reports, evaluation of investment decisions and product costing analysis. For students enrolled in the Bachelor of Business/ Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) ACC106 Accounting Principles is completed in lieu of BUS106 Accounting for Business.
