Rainbow theme as USC celebrates diversity

USC’s Fraser Coast campus will take on the colours of the rainbow for one day this week in a bright show of support for sexual and gender diversity.

A rainbow flag will fly for the day on the campus flag pole to mark International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT).

A ceremony will be held in front of the flag pole at 10am on Thursday 17 May.

USC Access and Diversity Officer Marjorie Blowers said as well as celebrating diversity, the event would raise awareness of the challenges faced by people who identified as homosexual, bisexual or transgender.

“By coming together to raise a rainbow flag, staff and students will show their commitment to inclusion and respect at USC,” Ms Blowers said.

“Following the flag raising, there will be rainbow-themed stalls, resources and discussions for IDAHOT Day, as well as activities to encourage students to relax, recharge and renew as part of the University Mental Health Week.”
