Ten Spartans in Aussie team for Pan Pacs

Ten USC Spartans swimmers have been selected for the Australian team to compete at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships, known as the Pan Pacs and the Para Pan Pacs, in Cairns from 9-13 August.

Blake Cochrane, Ellie Cole, Katja Dedekind, Daniel Fox, Braedan Jason, Kaylee McKeown, Jake Packard, Logan Powell, Mikkayla Sheridan and Jacob Templeton made the national team after placing well at the Pan Pacific Championship Trials in Adelaide this week.

Another Spartan, Nathan Jason, narrowly missed selection but has made the Australian Development Team that will also compete at the Para Pan Pacs in Cairns.

Spartans coaches Chris Mooney and Nathan Doyle were also selected for the Australian team, along with USC sports scientist Dr Danielle Formosa, psychologist Associate Professor Geoff Lovell and soft tissue therapist Lauren Gray.

With swimming powerhouses Australia, Canada, China, Japan and the United States involved, the Pan Pacs are ranked among the toughest international meets.

The 10 Spartans make up 15 percent of the 68-strong Australian swimming squad attending the championships.
