My job

I assist in the delivery off a suite of services designed to assist organisations enhance the return from their IT investments and more effectively manage their IT risks.

My day to day activities vary greatly and range from conducting client meetings, data analysis, process mapping, investigating company IT risk and assisting in producing deliverables for clients.

I am currently part of a team delivering program assurance for a multi-million dollar international IT program of work.

It is rewarding coming in at different points of the program of work to understand their challenges and their progress and to provide valuable advice that can really help the program along.

How I got the job

KPMG has a comprehensive recruitment process. I initially applied through their website which comprised of a written application and completion of some online testing.

I was then invited to attend an assessment centre which included a one-on-one interview, testing and a group activity.

Overall, it may seem like a daunting process, however, it lead to a positive end result. USC gave me lots of opportunities that helped me stand out when applying for this graduate position.

What I enjoy most

I get the chance to do something different every day. I have always enjoyed a challenge and KPMG enables me to set my goal post further. In my position I get opportunities to work in different roles for many organisations.

The challenge is rapidly learning the unique circumstances of an organisation, but it is incredibly rewarding when we deliver insight that is really useful for our clients.

I was attracted to this role as it offers the chance to work overseas, on a wide range of clients and doing a wide variety of things.

Why university?

I chose university study because of the opportunities it could offer me. I wanted to travel the world and work in places like London and New York. A degree is one of the best ways to do that.

Why USC?

I felt that a technology degree from USC gave me the right balance of technical and business skills.

It was also a smaller university and it felt more personal. I wasn't ready to give up the Sunshine Coast yet.

I liked the lifestyle, opportunities and convenience being close to home that USC offered.
