Cameron Uys

For USC student Cameron Uys, a childhood love of playing with Lego has led to an engineering degree – and a job offer before he's even finished uni.

Cameron studies USC's Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) and recently won $1200 in prizes for his academic achievements at the 2018 USC Engineering Awards. His prizes included awards for the highest-achieving student in Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics and Concrete Structure and Technology, and the Australian Steel Institute Award for his excellent work in steel design.

Cameron will now complete an Honours research project next year as part of the final year of his degree. He'll also be working locally with Shadforth Civil Contractors, who offered him a job alongside his studies.

“I’ll get to do lots of hands-on lab work with experimenting and testing,” he said. “It will be real-world stuff.”
