Gympie graduate gains financial planning role

Kymberly Pearce of Gympie has just graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Financial Planning.

Kymberly, 23, who received her USC degree at a special ceremony at Sippy Downs on Thursday 1 October, is now helping Gympie residents improve their financial future after securing work with Reg Leis Financial Services.

“The company specialises in life insurance, superannuation and retirement planning, and in my role, I aim to ensure that people are planning for their future, as well as protecting themselves and their families,” Kymberly said.

“I walked into the job with no industry experience in financial planning. However, I was able to slot right in with the knowledge gained from university.

“The content of the degree is directly related to everything we do in the day-to-day running of the business.”

Kymberly, a James Nash State High School graduate, said she chose to enrol at USC for the opportunity to study close to home as well as to enjoy the Sunshine Coast lifestyle.

“USC also offered a bus service from Gympie to the Sippy Downs campus, which was extremely convenient,” she said.

“The high-quality teaching staff, who were always there to help you achieve what you wanted to achieve, was a massive plus.

“I really enjoyed the atmosphere of USC and its location on the Sunshine Coast, which meant I was able to live very close to the beach.”

Applications are now open to start studying at USC in 2016, including at the USC Gympie campus.
