Planning and property tips for school students

21 October 2014

Eighty high school students from Suncoast Christian College, Meridan State College and Chancellor State College will experience the ins and outs of urban planning and property development at USC on Wednesday 22 October.

The students from Years 10-12 will participate in interactive tasks on mega-tablets, overseen by USC Faculty of Arts and Business academics, and listen to the first-hand experiences of two industry leaders.

The USC Town Planning and Property Economics Day will be held at the USC Innovation Centre auditorium from 9.30am to 2pm.

Associate Professor of Regional and Urban Planning Johanna Rosier and Lecturer in Property Economics and Development Steven Boyd said the day aimed to spark interest in professions related to regional and urban planning and property economics and development, both taught at USC.

The students will be inspired by keynote speakers Kate Isles and Peter Bolton-Hall.

Kate Isles is managing consultant of MWH Global, Brisbane and president of the Queensland division of the Planning Institute of Australia.

Peter Bolton-Hall is director of Paceline Property and formerly Lend Lease Development’s regional development manager for the Sunshine Coast. He chairs the Sunshine Coast Property Council Committee.
