Ted Fitzgerald

Honorary Senior Fellow (April 2003)

Ted Fitzgerald was named an Honorary Senior Fellow in April 2003 in recognition of his enormous distribution to the economic development of the Sunshine Coast region.

Ted Fitzgerald is best known as ‘Mr Facts and Figures of the Sunshine Coast', a reputation largely developed in his role as the Regional Manager of the Sunshine Coast Regional Economic Development Board from 1989 to 2001.

Apart from being an outspoken and visionary manager who worked hard to strengthen business activities on the Coast, he was also influential in a planning context within the Regional Framework for Growth Management Process for South-East Queensland to 2021, nominating key regional centres, the location of industrial land, and the nodes for major employment creation.

From 1996 to 2002, he was the Chairperson of Cooloola Sunshine Institute of TAFE, an important period when the Institute grew in size and status.

He has led delegations to various economic hotspots within Australia and overseas, and has particular interests in South East Asia, where his interests have extended to learning Mandarin, to communicate more effectively in the conduct of his interests and his business.
