Honorary Senior Fellow (September 2011)

Beverley Hinz was named an Honorary Senior Fellow in September 2011 in recognition of her distinguished and sustained contribution to community liaison and commitment to regional voluntary organisations.

Bev Hinz’s relationship with the University of the Sunshine Coast commenced in 1995 as a member of the Graduate Women Queensland Sunshine Coast Branch, while she was still Deputy Principal at Kawana Waters State College. As an active member of Graduate Women, Bev has fulfilled the roles of Gowning Organiser, Bursary Committee member and Chair, member of the Refugee Education Program committee and President from 2007 to 2010. She has also established a fledgling mentoring program for female postgraduate students at USC. These activities have facilitated the strong contact that USC has with this very supportive organisation. Through the funds raised from the Graduate Women Queensland gowning activities, $57,000 has been returned in bursaries to female students. Bev is also an honorary member of the Golden Key International Honour Society at USC. Bev is recognised as a leader and a mentor to many students, volunteering at the STEMM program at Burnside State High School. Additionally, she volunteers at the Maleny Hinterland Information Centre and is a member of the management committee of this volunteer organisation.
