High school attended: Cannon Hill Anglican College
Degree: Bachelor of Laws
Target graduation date: 2023
My journey: As a school leaver I went straight into university in Brisbane to study a dual degree in Psychological Science and Business. In my second year of study, I was offered a dance contract overseas and made the choice to leave university and dance while I could. I had a wonderful 6 year career as a professional dancer working all over the world.
When it was time for me to stop dancing I wanted to put the skills I had learnt in the entertainment and event industry into practice and started working in Marketing.
While working full time, I signed up to study a dual degree in Business (Marketing Major) and Creative Writing online. Online study wasn’t for me, so I stopped after a year and continued to work in the field of marketing both as an employee and a freelancer.
Craving something more, I studied a diploma of Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultation and graduated as a certified practitioner. Wanting to be able to delve deeper in the health / service industry I made the decision to go back to uni to study Social Work as a mature student at USC. After studying for 6 months I felt I could achieve more in the service industry as a family lawyer and changed my program at USC to Bachelor of Laws.
Career aspirations: I have always wanted to do work with meaning. My desire is to work within an organisation that gives me the opportunity to create meaningful and lasting relationships with those we work with, empowering individuals and communities with choice and opportunity.
Why did you become an Ambassador? I joined the ambassador team to be a person people could turn to for information and support.
What do you like about USC? I was nervous about the idea of coming to uni as a mature aged student. I came onto campus and spoke with my potential course coordinator (Phil Crane) and knew this was a place of learning where I would be supported. Since commencing my studies I have noticed how personable and accessible the lecturers and tutors are at USC, you aren’t just a number here and I love that!
