USC Gympie to open its doors for inspiring fun

People thinking about studying at university or looking for a fun day out with the family are invited to the University of the Sunshine Coast’s upcoming Open Day at its Gympie campus on Cartwright Road.

This event on Sunday 25 September will include a free community celebration for people of all ages with interactive activities, giant games, face painting, giveaways and a chance to win an iPad 2 Air.

Information sessions will provide aspiring students with the opportunity to talk with academics and find out about the programs on offer, including Business, Education, Humanities, Psychology, Social Sciences and Nursing Science.

Current USC students will take future students on free tours and share first-hand insights into campus life.

The day will include presentations on getting into university, as well as information on USC’s free award-winning bridging program, Tertiary Preparation Pathway.

High school students going into Year 11 and 12 can discover how to work towards a USC degree while still at school by inquiring about the Headstart program.

USC’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill said Open Day was a chance for residents to have a great day out exploring their local university while discovering the transformative educational opportunities available at USC.

“Open Day is perfect for school leavers wanting to explore their study options, or those who left school some time ago and are interested in a new career or upgrading their skills,” Professor Hill said.

“They can talk with students and teachers, chat about their preferred degrees, receive information on fees, scholarships and how to apply, and join in interactive activities to give them a taste of the programs and university life.”

Open Day will run from 10am-1pm at USC Gympie and will include free coffee and muffins. Those attending can enter a draw to win an iPad 2 Air and accessories valued at almost $1,000.
