USC Design portfolios are hot off the press

University of the Sunshine Coast advanced-level Design students will showcase their digital design and commercial graphic portfolios in a new exhibition, Hot off the Press, to be officially opened at USC’s Art Gallery at 6.30pm on Friday 4 November.

The annual student portfolio exhibition incorporates graphic design, animation, illustration, magazine layouts, web sites, digital prints and e-media produced by the students over the past three years.

USC Gallery Manager Megan Williams said Hot off the Press would showcase the creative work and broad range of concepts created by USC students about to embark on careers in the creative industries.

“This innovative exhibition provides an excellent opportunity for industry representatives to see examples of the work being produced by the latest group of talented designers here at USC,” Ms Williams said.

“We are delighted to welcome professional photographer, judge and guest speaker Fi McGhee of Fi Australia, to officially open this year’s event.

“Cash prizes for outstanding portfolios are awarded at the exhibition opening night.”

While the official opening is on Friday 4 November, the exhibition will be on display from Thursday 3 November until Saturday 19 November at the USC Gallery.

The gallery is located at the University campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs. It is open free to the public from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, and is closed Sundays and public holidays and during exhibition changeovers.
